THE CHILLS

It's cold. It's been cold for the past few days and it's an odd feeling saying how cold it is seeing that I'm here, in a country that is 'hot and humid' according to geography lessons from the yesteryears. Nevertheless it is still cold, and my fingers really, really don't like it.

Anyway, it was last Friday I think when I noticed an increased occurence of goose bumps caused by involuntary shivering. And it takes a few minutes of heating my hands together so that they're warm enough to put the bumps back where they belong. I was in an air-conditioned place when it first started, so I thought it was because it was cold, but it didn't stop there. Throughout the week, I'd be doing something I normally do, and the next thing I know I'm all in shivers even when everyone else is not.

My mom thought I might be having some sort of internal fever and told me to see a doctor. But then again, how do you tell a doctor that you think you might be having a fever but are devoid of any symptoms save the occasional shivering and a bad case of goose bumps when you sort of feel fine... the only question here being is getting the chills every now and then a sign of you being fine or not?

Based on how I'm feeling at this moment, I'd say... maybe not so fine after all. Ugh.

  2. while you're at it, send some here, we're due for some cold here too. It's so damn hot. I went to delhi for a week and the heat followed me there. I'm siting on the roof right now, and it's hot humid and unbearable. My laptop feels hot on my lap. DO SOMETHING. someone, anyone, please

  3. lizza: Isn't it the rainy season in Manila as well? Or has the global warming gone and messed with that as well? And thanks for the wishes :)

kartik: You're sitting on the roof? That sounds so cool (not the climate/weather kind, though, hehehe)
We have the hot, humid and unbearable as well, which is when all the clouds gather and the air is just stifling. As for the laptop, that's just plain bad naming. The heat practically cooks your lap!

  4. Hey, thanks for the comment on my blog! I'm glad you found it interesting, I kinda just started it to get out my frustrations about the political season we're currently in here in the US. Use of the race card and distortions of history horrible but worse still considering how young our nation really is and people through sheer ignorance, reinforced by laziness refuse to find out the truth for themselves. =/

As for your own situation, I hope you feel better soon.. may I suggest a turtleneck or a sweater and perhaps some chicken soup? =P My uncle is actually out in Burma right now.. kind of random, I know, but it just seemed kind of funny to me that I'd get a post from the same region while I'm wondering how hes doing =P

Anyway, feel free to drop back in if you feel like hearing a former history major rant about American political theory/economics.. it's kind of dry stuff, I know.. but hey.. I write what I know. =P Till then, I bid you adieu.

  6. You should get a blood check every 6 months to be safe, cos as you say if there are no clear symptoms they will just dismiss you. Doctors of your mothers generation were more thorough. It is very different these days.

Here in Sydney the weather is beautiful BUT at work it is freezing because I work on the very top level of the centre with an exposed roof. Place is always around 10-15 degrees.

  7. mike: Thanks for dropping by as well. Politics has suddenly become very interesting of late. And I'll surely drop by again :)

mimi: Thank you :) And thanks for doing this blogblast for peace project....

orhan: A blood check? Gulp! But you're right, that's the only way we can identify any problems.

    10 - 15 degrees? That's terribly cold!
