Stories, and such...

I believe I have something that I usually pass off as a wild imagination. It moves from one spot to another at the speed of 5 to the power of 3 lightyears, which is a gazillion times faster than my fingers can ever type.

Two months ago, epiphany hit. A large number of interesting situations were happening all at the same time, and one story begged to be told. I was tempted to attempt satire! (I guess it would be safer to say that I was going to attempt something that I thought could be categorised as satire) Being somewhat occupied at that time (well, more so than today, of course) I told it to wait while I got some things straight. Meanwhile, I put the idea in an old notebook which I usually use for things like these so that I wouldn't forget.

(Note: It's amazing how many ideas there are that were actually written in the book - mostly cryptic because of the lack of time, and I am clueless on expanding them because I've forgotten the initial idea!)

Fast forward two months later, the story is still at its introductory stages. An attempt to move forward was thwarted by sheer boredom (I was bored in continuing it, and the story itself was moving towards the banner that proclaims "I'm boring!! Read me at your own peril!!". Even for a wannabe writer like me, getting bored of your own story spells doom.

So much for writing fiction. Sigh...

  1. I think you just have to find the story that excites you, and write that. You can do it.

  3. The road to a brilliant novel is littered with terrible ideas. The worst thing you can do is give up. And certainly never trash anything you have written. I have several works that are a composite of abandoned ideas. Sometimes the ideas you think are bad are simply pieces of a larger puzzle that you can't see yet. Not everyone gets the call to be a writer....keep that in mind.

cyberfish: yeah, I know ... it's just that writing actually makes me happy, which is why I so badly want to write something.
