All For Math

Image 'borrowed' from blc.com

If it weren't for the absurdity and obscurity that is probability (and maybe locus as well), I'd say that math would have been my favourite subject in school.

Anyway, I got this math quiz question via e-mail the other day. You'd think that with all the worries that occupy the minds of distracted people like me, working on a math problem would be the last priority.

It almost was, and would have been if it weren't for curiosity. But honestly, it was the happiest 10 minutes of my life that day. I never expected to have these words come out of me, but seriously, algebra rocks!!

So, if you're bored/tired/angry with the world for being so unfair... and think that algebra could make you feel better, go ahead and solve the puzzle below and put in the answers in the comments section

A man wanted to get into his work building, but he had forgotten his code. However, he did remember five clues. These are what those clues were:

The fifth number plus the third number equals fourteen.

The fourth number is one more than the second number.

The first number is one less than twice the second number.

The second number plus the third number equals ten.

The sum of all five numbers is 30

The original e-mail had an attachment that could be opened with 5 digit code, arranged in the order of 1st digit - 5th digit.
