Sick of Being Sick!!

It must be a sorry state my body is in right now. Even after 3 weeks since the declaration of the attack of the flu bug, I have not recovered. Fully. It is without doubt the sniffles have long seen their day, but the cough remains and as the days go by it seems to get only worse despite the packets of Fisherman's Friends I finished as well as my attempts to take my weekend medicine (the medication is unfortunately too strong to be taken on weekdays - read workdays because I'm left in a state of delirium which can cause nasty accidents involving staircases)

And to combat this I should have done what any normal sick person would have done... take a few days off, take medication and lie quietly in bed until they totally recover. But not me. Not 'macho' Terra. She had to go to work. Let the flu fight itself.... like it always does without considering for one single moment that her workplace could be the one with potential hazard. It's swarming with chemical molecules!!

So three weeks later and after a fitful series of coughs and not much rest save for Sunday where I did practically nothing, I realise that the pain caused by all that violent coughing and probably overwork is indeed too much to bear. The pain at the left side of my rib has moved (spread) to the right side as well and breathing has become such a chore. I've skipped going to the gym for three whole weeks (something I've never done before since I joined the gym last year) and pretty much feel like a miserable little git. I am seriously sick and tired of being sick! How could I neglect my health until it turned so bad?

  1. You should take some rest and off from work. If you don't, it will remain for ages.

You want to be healthy don't you?

  2. poor you.... this is why you have to learn the lesson to take time off when you're sick! A handful of days off can work and in the end you're really more productive when you go back to work.

I learnt this the hard way too. I was once nearly hospitalised due to a mystery illness which had my temperature up to 104F. Eventually after some strong anti-biotics and lots of mammy-care I was diagnosed just tonsilitus + exhaustion. All because I didn't stay in bed when I was sick!

So go back to bed now!!

  4. And instead of going home and taking rest, here you are putting all of this on your blog... That's really 'macho' of you :P

Btw, in our office during the last few weeks, whenever anybody had a slight flu, we send him home... Can't take risk with the rest of the office falling sick as well!

  8. Brian: Yes, I know I should... I just want to get well.

Aunty: I always remember too late, that's the problem. Plus I couldn't be away for too long this time... all to do with the bad timing of the arrival of new machines. Must learn to love myself more!

secret agent woman: I suppose it isn't too late... will be taking an extended weekend this week.

  9. Rakesh: Writing in the blog (at least for this post) as an effortless task. As for the illness... I didn't have fever at all, so I could continue working like normal, and no one sent me home :(

Vivek: Yeah, a nice rest will be good...

    Travis: I will, thanks :)

SS: I don't know what is my rss feed's link. How do I find it?

  11. Aw, this is terrible news!

I will remember not to make you laugh until your rib cage is feeling better ;)

  12. Somehow... your comment made me laugh . Anyway, I've learnt to laugh without being too enthusiastic about it... you know with minimal movements and such. It's not the same thing as a real laugh, but gotta make do with what I have now :)

  15. I have been so sick where the coughing made my ribs sore. It is so not fun. I've also tried to be macho and made myself a total mess. Rest and be a wimp once and awhile.

  16. Yes, I realise that now. In my defense, those days were busy ones. I had to be there.
