ReplyDeleteWould you believe, I only read that recently! I saw the animated version on TV when I was quite young, and it scared and confused me, rightfully so. My favourite Orwell writings are his collected short stories and essays. Love the man, love the writing.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this test is very scientific. I've tried it before and discovered I wrote like various authors whose style is completely different from my own. Still, as long as I don't write like Enid Blyton or Barbara Cartland....

ReplyDeletenick: Probably not... I did a small experiment with my older writing. Something I wrote in 2008 was similar to H.P Lovecraft and something from 2006 was similar to Chuck Palahniuk. I had a good laugh.
Nick Philips: Actually, neither did I. Google him, he's actually got some free online versions of his books.
I did this a couple of months back and got Nabakov which I was extremely smug about. This time I got Dan Brown - how horrifying!!!!

ReplyDeleteApparently i write like James Joyce....hmmm....i tried reading his Portrait blah blah blah book but couldn't get past the first few pages. Perhaps i should have another go at it.
