the power of water ;) |
I'm having a major computer problem. Due to old age (and probably an abusive owner), my laptop suddenly didn't want to work anymore. Turns out, the laptop itself is still fine, but the cable that supplies the electricity and the port that receives it don't see eye to eye anymore. In order to use it as I am using it now, the power connection is pushed to the side with my water bottle.
Even with external help, the power gets cut off accidentally - for instance if I hit the "delete" key a bit more enthusiastically than I should, or if I'm trying to use the USB port which is situated a bit too close for comfort. The worst part of it all? I have to use it on the floor, which is not very comfortable.
So, until I find a solution to this problem, I might as well announce that I may not be around here for awhile (although I'll have to try to sneak in typing stuff elsewhere and just posting it up here)
Mine disappeared and your cord doesn't want to work. The cat is expanding his reach the laptops of the world better watch out..haha
ReplyDeleteHa ha... I think so too.
DeleteWell you will be missed. Hopefully you can solve your problem soon, or find some other computer to steal/borrow/never give back.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll be around to read and comment and all, but posting will be troublesome, I guess.
DeleteI used to have a laptop that gave me problems since day 1. Sent it for repair several times, changed some major parts and it always had annoying issues. Then I dumped it and got a new one. I'm lovin this one :)
ReplyDeleteHope you could sort your laptop soon.
This one was too. I got cheated buying it (they (HP!) gave me Vista with less that 1 gig of RAM)
DeleteWell, we'll see how the attempts to repair go. Worst case scenario, get a new laptop - hopefully it's still tax deductible.
I always hate when a cable doesn't work right. If they spent a little more money on wiring it could last forever but no. My headphones never last because of that.
ReplyDeleteThe consumers are at the losing end here. Products seem to be of inferior quality these days compared to those from say 9 or 10 years ago.
DeleteI've changed out the power cord with a universal cord from Best Buy. That has help me a couple of times...
ReplyDeleteI think my cord is working okay - it's the contact point with is being a pain now.
DeleteI like your almost easy fix but I hope you get it fixed permanently soon.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. Today, it happens to be propped up my an old mp3 player.
DeleteWell at least your laptop itself is fine. That's always a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYup. At least.
DeleteI really enjoy fixing things like this so just out of interest, I googled about fixing the power connector on an HP laptop - it looks an awfully difficult job for such a trivial problem.
ReplyDeleteIt never occurred to me until I read your comment. Just saw a video of a guy dismantling a HP pavillion. It's just insane!
DeleteWe'll miss you - hope you get the problem fixed soon!
ReplyDeleteAw, I will be around sometimes, I guess.
Deletehear hear...
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteYes, sneak in some writing for sure! Sorry about your computer.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like that is the most likely thing I'll do.
DeleteBest of luck, maybe it's time to get a PC?
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the PC. We'll see, though.
