Vanity and Vexation of Spirit:

In LM Montgomery's book, Anne of Green Gables , Anne dyed her hair green by accident because she hated her red hair and was promised by a travelling salesman that the hair dye she purchased from him would turn her hair black. Vanity? Maybe. Last weekend, this blog looked like a mutant for a few good hours because the vain owner was bored of her white and black theme and didn't really like the idea of using any of the different combinations of templates and backgrounds provided by blogger itself. No, she just had to do it the old fashioned way by downloading third party templates and trying them on the blog one by one like one would try dresses in a shop. Vanity? Definitely. After all, shouldn't a blog be more about the content and not how it looks?  (But then, blogs that have been black and white for way too long can be depressing) Sadly, all of them were major failures on the blog, whereby the blog title multiplied, gadgets from the sidebar moved to some strange locati...

A lil' Bit of Quiet

Things have been a little quiet on the blogging front in recent days. Staring at the empty blogger blog form doesn't help, sitting, standing or sleeping with a pencil and paper didn't help either. For the first time after 4 years of almost consistent blogging I have nothing to say. Nothing. Completamente nada. Fine, maybe I exaggerate. I did have things to say, but the moment they moved from my brains to electronic form, they seemed to lose their worthiness of being a full fledged post. Take this for instance, something I wanted to post on Monday night: " Seriously, why do some people have to ask stupid questions just so that they can say something?" Now, that was because we had about 15 minutes of our time wasted because someone asked a stupid question during a meeting. He probably felt he needed to ask the question just so that he would look good, and be in the loop. For a few of us sitting at the back, me drafting out a prospective post in my head, and the guy n...

AN ANOMALY OF THE BLOGGING KIND

In the initial days of blogging which seems so far away, I used to avoid putting up pictures on the blog like a plague. I'd say this was contributed to the fact that I had indeed started on this addictive hobby when I was still struggling with a 56 kbps modem, and pictures would have taken a lifetime to load. After all, anyone who has known me long enough will well be aware of all the connection problems I have faced throughout, the most recent just a few months ago. These days I do put up pictures, for visual purposes at times, but the latest of the lot was a mystery! Till the very end, and on three different browsers, the picture never enlarged despite the fact that I had stated on the post right below the picture : "Click to enlarge" My mistake was I only checked it once after posting the post on Friday night and blamed it on my browser. Very convenient, aight ? Anyway, a little over a day later I spent a good half an hour putting the picture up, just to take it ...

BLOGGER'S SECRET AGENDA

Some time back, I recall a fellow blogger friend who one of the first few to convert to beta mention that she couldn't log into her account to post comments into non-beta blogger's pages. Now, I find myself facing the same problem... only it's the other way round. Due to my unexplainable stubborness in refusing to change to Beta, me and my blog have been relegated to the status of second class blognetizens. Bloody hell... I can't post comments on my beta blogger friends blogs in one try. It takes at least 3 attempts, and that is if I label myself as 'other' or 'anonymous'. Sometimes, I give up due to sheer frustration in attempting to leave a sign that I have visited. Other non-beta bloggerfriends have mentioned similar thoughts on this subject: Prometheus and Yaxlich . I'm afraid, that blogger has finally figured out a tactic to not woo non-beta bloggers but to coerce them into joining this society where if things go wrong, then too bad! Ha...
