Introducing Granny Shield

No, we're not talking about your super-heroesque blogger friend's grandmother. I'm sure at her current age, she'll prefer to be left to her own devices - which usually consists of cooking scrumptious food or having long conversations with her children and/or grandchildren. See, the thing is, I had spent the past few days doing what I can only presume to be what old(er) people do, that is going to sleep early. My parents for instance, both nearing their late fifties have the tendency to sleep by 10 or 11 pm and also tend to wake up at unearthly hours to do strange things like to mop the house. As for me, by early I mean I end up getting knocked off by 10 pm and end up having a deep, sound and undisturbed slumber which should leave me feeling refreshed by the time I need to get up at 6:30 am, but that is hardly the case. All I want is to just curl up like a snail and sleep even more. Probably the weather we've been having isn't helping much either. I know that t...

As The Horse Sleeps

Way back when my friends and I were young and silly (not that we're not silly anymore, we're just not that young anymore), a conversation of this sort took place: C: I'm so sleepy I could sleep standing up! M: Are you a horse? Now, I brought up this old conversation because I've only had an average of perhaps 2 hours of sleep a day since Sunday. I could indeed sleep standing up (falling over will occur afterwards) if it weren't for me reverting back (albeit temporarily) to my morning coffee, which admittedly has helped me go through the day, but when it comes to night, and the moment my head hits the pillow, violent coughing ensues. I think it is physically impossible to sleep while coughing, (or is it cough while sleeping?) just like how you can't breathe and swallow at the same time. The point is, lying down causes the cough to start, and the coughing makes sleeping impossible. I so wish I was a horse right now. On another note, I finally made the vi...

The 4th Dimension

Between the hours spent being awake, either forced or voluntarily and a very skewed definition of the word "rest" in the last few years or so, I have managed to make myself very, very tired. And somehow, during those lost hours, something I used to rely on very heavily to make things better seemed to have disappeared from my vocabulary: The afternoon nap. I remember hating those afternoon naps as a child. I'd always want to run around, play, or just do something, but I had to succumb to the pressure in the end. In recent times however, as soon as I attempted taking a nap, I'd be wide awake, just like that. Even the most boring, long winded 18 th century literature could never put Terra back to sleep again. What's worse is the condition seems to have detriorated as time goes by. Earlier this week, I had an extended weekend, which instead of leaving me refreshed, made me even more tired than usual, although I did try my best to sleep well. Anyway, yesterday was...
