100 movies in a poster

Image
Note: Enticing procrastination tool ahead. If I called myself a movie buff, the stone lodged somewhere in the tread of my left safety shoe would laugh so hard, it'll get dislodged immediately. However, despite the number of movies I've watched over the years average less than the average of almost anyone else, I couldn't help being drawn to the picture below. Basically, what you've got to do is to guess the names of the movies creatively hidden in there (if you want to) and place your findings in the comments section (also if you want to)... I'll be away on a short holiday for the next few days, so guess away!  Oh yeah, click to enlarge the picture :) Picture credits: Lovefilm, I guess...

Brain Exercise

This is a little quiz I got via e-mail from my boss... Had some fun doing it and figured that I'd share it here for those who may be interested... You know, kind of exercise the brain with something other than the same old work/study related stuff....  If: 2 + 3 = 10 7 + 2 = 63 6 + 5 = 66 8 + 4 = 96 Then:  9 + 7 = ??? PS: I've enabled comment moderation for this post for at least the next 24 hours or until a new post surfaces as I suppose people who comment (if they choose to) will be giving answers (things lose their fun element when you know the actual answer beforehand) Edit: Turns out comment moderation is applied to all posts! Yikes!

Scraps of Honesty

Image
If someone asks you to state 10 facts about yourself, what would you say? Right at the top of my head are, I'm female, 29 (gasp!!) years old, with bad eyesight who likes to read a lot and suffers from self diagnosed insomnia which may be the result of my addiction to coffee. There's 6 facts right in that sentence itself. I could continue but I won't. I was tagged by Ricardo awhile ago for this particular meme where I'm supposed to state 10 things about myself, but lets face it... throughout the years, I've done lists of this sort, from the 6 weird things about me, and it's sister version of 9 weird things about me and most recently, 25 random facts about me. That 25 random facts took me 3 days to compile - of course not 3 whole days, but you get the picture. Is there anything else left to say? I don't know... For that reason, I've decided to modify the meme... I'm going to list 10 items, but only 5 of them are true and another 5 are either ex...

Click to check the answers Through a bit of research, and with some help from a friend, here are the answers to the "guess the names of the bands so that you can spend some time cracking your brains and spoiling your eyes" quiz. http://www.sethjones.net/?p=345 http://uk.download.yahoo.com/plus/fu/oa/answers.jpg (courtesy of Sreenivas)

Rock Yourselves Out

Ahem! If you're a reluctant procrastinator like myself, I implore you to stop reading right here and click on the exit button, because I assure you that if you do continue, you will end up procrastinating, like I did. Anyway, the picture above was in circulation over the net a few years ago, stating that there are about 75 bands hidden in the picture, all under (or formerly under) the record label Virgin Records, and I had spent a few good hours over several weeks trying to figure out the bands that were rather cleverly hidden there after seeing it on this blog . I managed to get a few before giving up because I started seeing stars, but no one seems to know if they are right or wrong! So, what you've got to do is to see if you can identify the bands/singers listed above and then place your answers in the comments section. Further discussion will ensue when I get back :)

The Hedgehog Song

Despite the stories we've heard as kids about how witches are cruel and should be avoided at all costs, I still find them fascinating. After TP, I think witches are way too cool! So, thanks to an invite to check out a quiz on facebook, I found out that I'm Gytha "Nanny"Ogg, who is a witch. After a few weeks, I finally remembered to look for the lyrics to The Hedgehog Song so that all those who are Nanny Ogg deep down inside can sing it together. This one's for Aunty... The Hedgehog Song 1. You can bugger the bear, if you do it with care, in the winter, when he is asleep in his lair, Though I would not advise it in spring or in fall-- but the hedgehog can never be buggered at all. 2. If you're feeling quite coarse, you can bugger the horse, or the palfrey, the jennet, the stallion (with force), You can bugger the donkey, the mare, or the mule, Though to bugger the pony is needlessly cruel. 3. You can bugger the ox (if you stand on a bo...

All For Math

Image
Image 'borrowed' from blc.com If it weren't for the absurdity and obscurity that is probability (and maybe locus as well), I'd say that math would have been my favourite subject in school. Anyway, I got this math quiz question via e-mail the other day. You'd think that with all the worries that occupy the minds of distracted people like me, working on a math problem would be the last priority. It almost was, and would have been if it weren't for curiosity. But honestly, it was the happiest 10 minutes of my life that day. I never expected to have these words come out of me, but seriously, algebra rocks!! So, if you're bored/tired/angry with the world for being so unfair... and think that algebra could make you feel better, go ahead and solve the puzzle below and put in the answers in the comments section A man wanted to get into his work building, but he had forgotten his code. However, he did remember five clues. These are what those clues were:...
